For the last few years many customers have asked if we rent them out for longer periods, for more than 6 weeks.
Yes we do!!
We have been hiring canalboats in Stone Staffordshire for over 75 years, short-breaks. weeks, 2 weeks up to 24 weeks.
In 2016 we had a lovely couple visit from Canada who went out on Lucy for 18 weeks with there dogs.
A trip which took them over to the Pennines, Manchester and into Wales.
Please note: We are not a residential boat letting agency and do not provide static or fixed-location rentals. We warmly welcome those who genuinely wish to explore and cruise the UK’s unique canal system—whether near or far.
To ensure a smooth start and mutual understanding, we’d like to be clear:

We do not offer residential or static hire.

We cannot hire to solo boaters (unless you have been on a recognised single handed boaters course and have been canal boating before); otherwise a minimum of two adults must be aboard while cruising.

Our boats must be actively and visibly cruising in accordance with navigation authority guidelines.
Service
Whats included, how do we start?
Long term canal boat hire, whats included. Your boat will be serviced, cleaned and ready to go with bedding, towels, gas and diesel (extra charges). A short intro into living aboard to cover the day to day bits for example i.e. servicing the engine, toilet pump outs, water filling, how long the gas and diesel lasts etc.

We arrange to meet up at a convenient spot for yourselves to do the various oil and filter changes. This happens every 8 -12 weeks, If you have hired for longer than 4 weeks. We also - for your peace of mind - operate a call out service.

We have several boats for canal boat long term hire for example - 47ft Alice, 60ft Carey, 68ft Olivia and 70ft Lillian. (We do have other layouts, so give us a ring)

All are cruiser stern and have bow decks. Fully central heated, open plan lounge areas, full size fridge, full size cookers, 240v and 12v electricity, hot and cold water, small hoover and table top washing machine (if needed).

How much comfort do I want?
For example:-
Maria's accommodation features a well-appointed one-bedroom layout with a fixed double bed and a spacious wardrobe. The property includes a modern shower room with a walk-in shower, sink, and wash basin. The galley-style kitchen is efficiently designed and equipped with a full-size cooker, refrigerator, and a small freezer compartment. The lounge offers a comfortable living space with two reclining chairs, a television, a radio, and a dual-fuel fire.

Carey features two comfortable bedrooms: one with a fixed double bed and another with two single beds that can be configured as a double if desired. The rear cabin includes a toilet and a separate walk in shower room with an additional toilet and wash hand basin. The spacious lounge is furnished with a sofa, two armchairs, and a drop-down dining table, providing a relaxed and functional living area. The well-appointed galley is fully equipped and includes a microwave for added convenience.

All boats have open plan lounge areas with TV's/DVD and radio/cd players and all have either fixed seating or loose chairs and dining tables.

In the galley we have full size cookers and fridges. All your pots, pans and crockery.
Routes
Where can I go? You are only restricted by the length of boat. The Leeds and Liverpool canal will only accept 56ft through the locks. The rest of the canals are fine. We are based on the Trent and Mersey in the midlands.
You will be able to see most of the Shires of England from your floating cottage.
How long can I hire and the Costs involved?
How much is it? We offer long-term rentals starting from a minimum of one month, booked in monthly increments. A minimum crew of two people is required, as we do not offer solo hires. Our vessels are fully licensed and insured, ensuring they meet all navigation authority and industry safety standards—giving you complete peace of mind.

One Month: March/April or October/November 26 - £1900pcm rising to £3880pcm between May & September.

Two months: starting between March+April, October + November £1880pcm rising to a peak of £3850 pcm

The boat will be full of diesel**, have 2-3 full gas bottles**, bedding, towels and serviced. Toilets tank/s will last about 10 days - 2 weeks with careful use.

The above prices are based on Carey Ginger 4 berth. For other sizes contact us for details. ** Note the diesel and gas are an extra cost not included in the rental fee.
Do I need a licence?
Is boating knowledge required and do we need a driving licence? No, we give you all the infomation and training you will need aboard and on the canals.
Our boats are licenced for all the Canal system and certain rivers.
